Papers [manuscript]. 1968-1969.

Interview transcripts, newscuttings and an exhibition catalogue relating to a radio documentary and an exhibition at the Auckland City Art Gallery marking the centenary of the birth of New Zealand artist Frances Hodgkins (1869-1947). The transcripts include scripts of interviews conducted by author June Opie with sculptors Henry Moore, Dame Barbara Hapworth and others who were acquainted with Hodgkins. The interviews were incorporated into the radio documentary which was compiled by June Opie for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation.

Frances Hodgkins was born in Dunedin, the daughter of a watercolour artist. From 1895 to 1896 she studied at the Dunedin School of Art. After teaching in New Zealand, she made, in 1907, the first of several painting trips to Europe. She held her first London exhibition at Paterson's Gallery in that year.
